Camonghne Felix joins the Amara Campaign as Communications Director

CHICAGO – 12/13/18 Amara is pleased to welcome Camonghne Felix to the campaign as our new Communications Director. Prior to joining the campaign, Camonghne was the Senior Communications Manager for the Ms. Foundation, the world’s oldest feminist foundation. She has also worked as a Strategist at BerlinRosen Public Affairs where she designed and led full communications and branding strategies for progressive clients and campaigns working across a range of issues including racial justice, gender equity, criminal justice, homelessness, and education.

In 2015, Camonghne became the first African-American female speechwriter to serve a New York State governor, serving under Andrew Cuomo.

In addition to her work as a communications strategist, Camonghne is a poet and author. Camonghne has received master’s degrees from New York University and Bard College and was recently listed by the Black Youth Project as a “Black Girl from the Future You Should Know.”

Camonghne brings a wealth of experience to Amara’s team. We look forward to Camonghne being a key player in designing a dynamic and creative citywide conversation. We remain focused on the work of winning and delivering a bold, transformative vision for all people in the city of Chicago.
