Conversations with Amara Enyia & Lori Lightfoot

February 13, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Aiming to help voters learn more about the lesser-known progressives on the ballot for Mayor of Chicago, Indivisible Chicago is holding a public meeting to talk, one-at-a-time, with two candidates about whom we’d like to know more. Progressive voters can easily learn about candidates such as Toni Preckwinkle, Susana Mendoza, or many others who have run for public office in the past and get significant news coverage. There are plenty of fourteen-candidate forums (and at least one televised forum that will exclude these two candidates); however, many of us are still undecided and would like to hear more from some of the progressive candidates who are relative newcomers as candidates for public office.

In response, Indivisible Chicago has pulled together an event specifically designed to have a more in-depth conversation with Amara Enyia and Lori Lightfoot. These two candidates sit farthest to the left of the political spectrum, yet our members seem to know the least about them. That’s why we’re organizing a meeting with only these two candidates, to be held February 13 at Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 S. Michigan Avenue. Tom Moss, host of the Indivisible Chicago Podcast, and Marj Halperin, Indivisible Chicago Executive Committee member and Democratic Analyst for the WGN-TV Morning News, will moderate “Meet the Candidates: Conversations with Lori Lightfoot and Amara Enyia”. We have recently documented our Progressive Principles (distributed at last weekend’s Women’s Forum) and linked below. This will be the basis for interviews, with additional questions specific to each candidate, and questions from our members. Attendees will be invited to submit questions on index cards throughout the event.

To be clear, this event does not represent an endorsement, and Indivisible Chicago will not be endorsing any candidates for Mayor.
